AroundTheSound is an ear cuff — the most desired earring of recent years — that is literally “worn” so as to almost cover the entire ear.
It is in this context that alab.tech, an innovative SME focused on cutting-edge technology projects, launches a product in which art and technology merge. AroundTheSound, meaning Around the Sound, is an evocative brand centered on one of the best-selling tech devices of recent years: earphones. The project has been entirely developed using 3D modeling and 3D printing systems. Technology meets the talent of jewelry designer Rosalba Balsamo and her highly personal dialogue with the world’s most renowned earphones — the AirPods — reinventing their wearability and redefining the standards of beauty and functionality. Earrings, which have existed since ancient times with magical, aesthetic, or symbolic meanings, now “interact” with earphones, indispensable in our daily lives. From this comes the desire to create a fusion between art, design, and new technologies. The designer emphasizes the uniqueness of her craftsmanship in contrast to undifferentiated mass production, making it strictly Apple AirPods ready.
AroundTheSound is featured in the FUTURE ROOM of the Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza.
On October 27, 2021, the exhibition of the 2021 edition of the ADI Design Index opened in Milan — the annual selection of the best Italian design by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory — and AroundTheSound was selected in the “Design for the Individual” category of the ADI INDEX 2021.
